Recognition of Prior Learning

RPL and Credit Transfers compare both informal and formal learning and skills with Nationally Recognised Units of Competency (UoC). If eligible, you will receive UoC's that contribute to a qualification.

Recognised Prior Learning

RPL aims to provide individuals who believe they are already competent with a flexible way to have their skills and knowledge assessed. This is done against the nationally recognised competencies in Training Packages and accredited courses. RPL is granted where the candidate is able to provide sufficient evidence of their competence in a unit as determined by the appointed RPL assessor. This can include past training or work experience.

Credit Transfer

If you have completed past studies in areas related to the qualification you plan to enrol in, you may be eligible for credit transfer. Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification. It is based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. Credit Transfer relates to the recognition of equivalent units issued by RTOs other than SAI Global or the recognition of superseded units issued by other RTO's or SAI Global. You will need to provide documentation of your past study so an assessor can make a decision about whether a credit transfer can be granted. This includes JP certified copies of your transcripts.

What type of information is required?

It is important to have an understanding of the units of competency you need to obtain to achieve a qualification. This will help you identify the skills and knowledge required to be deemed competent. RPL checklists provide you with that understanding and are available for all qualifications issued by SAI Global. The checklists give you a brief overview of relevant units of competency for your course or qualification and help you determine if RPL is a possible and the right option for you.

RPL checklists for your qualification:

  • BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing
  • BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management
  • BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety
